Project Objective(s)

ASOLAR secured the resultant approvals to provide 100k Solar
Home Systems (SHS) to electrify 500k people in rural Nigeria
under the Solar Power Naija – 5million SHS connections program.

What is Solar Power Naija? This is a program under the Economic
Sustainability Plan which was approved by the Federal Executive
Council on November 22nd, 2020 aimed at revitalizing the
domestic economy in response to the COIVID-19 pandemic. Solar
Power Naija aims to increase energy access through 5 million new
Solar connections, increase local content in the off-grid solar value
chain and create 250,000 new jobs in the energy sector.

What was Achieved

Over 2500 direct and indirect jobs have been created
Expenses on fuel for generators reduced by more than 90% or even eliminated in some cased
School pupils are able to do their school work even at night because there is available light all day
Health and environmental issues associated with generator smoke, noise pollution etc. are eliminated completely
